1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using DeepSignal, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the software. These terms apply to the public website, locally processed files, saved browser sessions, analyses, and exported outputs.

2. Research and educational use only

DeepSignal is provided solely for exploratory research and educational use. It is not intended for clinical or medical use, diagnosis, treatment, patient monitoring, clinical decision-making, or emergency use. DeepSignal and its outputs have not been clinically validated or authorized as a medical device.

You must not use DeepSignal or its outputs as a substitute for professional judgment, validated clinical software, or independently verified source data.

3. Authority to use data

You are responsible for ensuring that you are authorized to access and use every file you select. This includes obtaining any required consent, research ethics approval, institutional authorization, data-use permission, and other approval required by applicable law or policy.

You must select only files that have been appropriately de-identified before use. Removing names alone may not make a file non-identifiable; dates, device identifiers, free text, rare events, and combinations of metadata may still permit identification.

4. Local processing and storage

DeepSignal is designed to process selected files locally in your browser. Selected JSON contents and computed analyses are not sent to or stored on DeepSignal application servers in the current workflow.

If you choose Save Project Session, project data is retained in local browser storage on your device. Files that you export are saved to a location you select. You are responsible for securing and deleting locally saved projects and exported files. The website host may process ordinary connection information, such as IP address, browser information, and access logs, when serving the website.

5. Scientific limitations and verification

DeepSignal may contain errors, incomplete mappings, numerical differences, unsupported JSON structures, or limitations in artifact handling and visualization. Results may change as the software is updated.

You are responsible for independently verifying outputs, methods, parameters, extracted metadata, and conclusions against source data and appropriate validated methods before relying on or publishing them.

6. No professional relationship

Use of DeepSignal does not create a clinician-patient, researcher-participant, advisory, fiduciary, or other professional relationship with DeepSignal's creator or contributors.

7. Prohibited uses

You may not use DeepSignal for clinical care, unlawful processing of personal information, unauthorized access to data, re-identification of individuals, harmful or deceptive activity, interference with the website, circumvention of security controls, or any purpose that violates applicable law, research approval, institutional policy, or third-party rights.

8. Licence and intellectual property

Subject to these terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, revocable right to access and use DeepSignal for permitted research and educational purposes. DeepSignal's software, design, branding, and documentation remain the property of their respective owner or licensors. No ownership rights are transferred to you.

You retain responsibility for and any rights you hold in the files you select and the outputs you create, subject to applicable third-party rights and institutional agreements.

9. Availability and changes

DeepSignal may be corrected, updated, limited, suspended, or discontinued at any time. Features, supported file structures, outputs, and these terms may change without guaranteeing continued availability or backward compatibility.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DeepSignal is provided on an as-is and as-available basis without warranties or conditions of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or collateral, including accuracy, reliability, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or compatibility with any specific file or research workflow.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DeepSignal's creator and contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, research time, opportunity, revenue, reputation, or anticipated results arising from or related to use of or inability to use DeepSignal.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability, remedies, or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

12. Responsibility for misuse

You are responsible for consequences arising from your unauthorized, unlawful, clinical, or otherwise prohibited use of DeepSignal, including your failure to obtain required approvals or appropriately de-identify data.

13. Changes to these terms

Material changes to these terms may require renewed acknowledgement. The version and effective date shown below identify the terms currently presented by DeepSignal.
